Charlie Cox Says ‘Daredevil’ Reboot “Might Be It” If It Doesn’t Hit The Spot

Everyone’s wondering what the upcoming Daredevil reboot on Disney+ will be like and although we don’t have many details, star Charlie Cox alluded to it being his character’s last chance to remain relevant.

Speaking to NME during an interview at Netflix‘s head office, Cox said “if this show next year doesn’t hit the spot, then that might be it.”

Cox had a few other thoughts about Daredevil, the only lead character Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has welcomed from the Netflix universe.

“My opinion is this character works best when he’s geared towards a slightly more mature audience. My instinct is that on Disney+ it will be dark but it probably won’t be as gory.”

He added: “I would say to those people, we’ve done that. Let’s take the things that really worked, but can we broaden? Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works?”

Disney has given Daredevil: Born Again, which will start filming next month, a very confident 18-episode order.

“They said to me, ‘We’re going to be shooting in 2023’,” says Cox. “I said, ‘Great, when?’ They said, ‘All 2023’. I start shooting in February and finish in December.”

Cox is currently making the press rounds promoting the Netflix series Treason, in which he plays Adam, Deputy Director of MI6, who secures the agency’s top job after his boss (Ciaran Hinds) is poisoned.

Treason is currently streaming on Netflix and Daredevil: Born Again is slated to premiere in Spring 2024.
