This ‘Wednesday’ Tattoo Fail Is Going Viral Because It Looks More Like Samuel L. Jackson Than Jenna Ortega

Remember that time your mom warned you that tattoos are forever? Looks like someone didn’t get the memo. A fan of the Netflix show Wednesday was in for a rude awakening when they got the eponymous character tattooed and instead, left with something that looks like a mix of Samuel L. Jackson and Gollum from The Lord of the Rings.

Wednesday has become a major hit on Netflix, garnering Ortega a Golden Globes nomination. Under the direction of Tim Burton, the series takes place at Nevermore Academy and follows Jenna Ortega as the moody teen.

After premiering on Nov. 23, Netflix reported that the series has shattered the streamer’s record for most hours viewed for an English-language show in a single week with over 50 million households viewing it for 341.23 million hours.

And while fans of the show have become well acquainted with the character, we can’t say the same for the tattoo artist responsible for that viral artwork. Twitter users were quick to slam the new ink, with one user writing, “I would amputate whatever part of the body that is.”

A second chimed in with, “When you get a pre-production tattoo of Wednesday Addams, after hearing Samuel L. Jackson is being considered for the lead.”

A third wrote, “That tattoo of Samuel Wednesday Addams is a jump scare every time I see it in a scroll.”

Other Twitter users are saying the artwork looks more like Jackson, Gollum, Steve O., and comedian Gram M, rather than Ortega. Some are delivering jokes related to the series, saying that character in the tattoo “looks more like Gomez” or is another day of the week, such as “Black Friday” and “Wednesday’s Cousin, Monday“.

While the origins of the tattoo have yet to be revealed (and trust me, we looked), one tattoo artist is claiming to have inked the tattoo. Sharing the viral photo, they wrote, “I just did a tattoo of “Wednesday” for a client!! DM me for work/prices,” along with a slouched smiley face — insinuating that the post’s joking nature.

In addition to this tragic ink, Wednesday has inspired many to share their love for the series by recreating the main character’s infamous dance across social media platforms. If you ask me, one of those things is easier to live down than the other.
